Abstract

In this paper we treat the classical linear-quadratic regulator (LQR) design as an online multi-objective optimization problem where the compromise between the multiple objective functions is not resolved until run-time. For this purpose the unknown Pareto front is locally approximated by the gradient of the objective functions. Then, using a superordinated control loop, the Pareto optimality is adjusted to an arbitrary point on the Pareto front. This makes it possible to react to unknown or slowly varying stochastic disturbances or changing optimality requirements. Also, the control engineer is no longer concerned with determining suitable weighting matrices as in the classical LQR design. Instead, a compromise between the contradicting objectives is sought by means of physically or economically interpretable rules. It is shown that the gradients of the objective functions that depend on the currently effective disturbances can be computed from the system state through fictitious outputs. This allows a very efficient implementation of the proposed regulator scheme without knowledge of the disturbances.

Abstract

Over the past, the continuous increase of medical knowledge in combination with a high number of medical and technological innovations has lead to an enormous quality improvement in healthcare. But this development also requires a professional staff specialization resulting in an increased fragmentation and division of the entire patient treatment processes to individual specialists and/or departments. Therefore the improvement potential associated with the introduction of modern Information and Communication Technology (ICT) supporting the cooperation of all involved medical actors seems to be obvious. However, in reality the majority of such ICT-Tools does not meet those high expectations. A major reason for this is often an insufficient functionality directly resulting from an inadequate user integration into the development process. In this context a systematic analysis approach has been developed for the identification of optimization potential for ICT-Tools supporting collaborative work processes in healthcare based on a participatory analysis of the underlying medical treatment processes and a cooperative functionality definition. In a first investigative study this system ergonomic analysis approach was tested for the identification of the existing optimization potential for a web-based patient record to be introduced into the pre-, in- and post-hospital treatment processes of an emergency abdominal surgery. Together with the involved medical users a total number of 11 functionality requirements have been identified being essential for a systematic improvement of the underlying communication and coordination processes, whereas an improvement of the shared knowledge was rather less important for the later users. However, a broader optimization of web-based patient records in general will only be possible when also the treatment processes of different patient groups are taken into account.

Abstract

Produkte und Dienstleistungen aus dem Bereich Ambient Assisted Living (AAL) bieten Möglichkeiten zur Ausschöpfung des Marktpotenzials der aktiven älteren Generation sowie zur Senkung von Versorgungs- und Behandlungskosten. Bisher werden Bedürfnisse Älterer aber nur unzureichend von Herstellern berücksichtigt. Insbesondere im innovativen Bereich AAL werden Produkte erarbeitet, die trotz der Ermöglichung eines unabhängigen Lebens im Alter nicht ausreichend von Anwendern akzeptiert werden. Zur Lösung dieses Problems müssen ältere Anwender aktiv an der Produktentwicklung beteiligt werden. Diese sog. Senior User Integration (SUI) findet bei Herstellern faktisch nicht statt, obwohl sie zur Kosteneinsparung und Qualitätssteigerung beiträgt. Grund dafür sind z. B. zeitliche Beschränkungen im Entwicklungsprozess und fehlende methodische Kenntnisse. Ausgehend von Erfahrungen des DFG-Forschungsprojekts „SENTHA“ wurde am Fachgebiet Arbeitswissenschaft und Produktergonomie ein ganzheitliches, partizipatives Konzept zur ergonomischen Produktentwicklung entwickelt und mit der Senior Research Group (SRG) in die Praxis umgesetzt. Unter Einbindung dieser Gruppe von 20 Senioren werden Theorien zur Nutzereinbindung untersucht, geeignete Methoden identifiziert und eine Evaluation anhand verschiedener Fallstudien durchgeführt. In der praktischen Anwendung entstehen neue Produktideen, Funktionen und Bedienstrukturen werden besser an Bedürfnisse angepasst – das Erfolgspotenzial von Innovationen steigt. Fehler werden frühzeitig erkannt und behoben, die Wahrscheinlichkeit späterer Kundenbeschwerden und Fehlbedienungen sinkt. Die Erfahrungen zeigen, dass Senioren nicht nur als Kunden, sondern auch als innovative Entwickler wahrgenommen werden müssen.
