At FUAS, one third of our students are enrolled in computer science degree programmes. The graduates of these programmes are extremely sought-after on the job market. Media and film are also very important industries for our university and the region.
Our university has become an important source of expertise and transfer hub of innovative, digital solutions in the form of a large number of successful classes and research and transfer activities. In this way we play an active role in promoting the competitiveness of the economy and quality of life (e.g. in health and care, education and culture). The large number of start-ups in IT (related) sectors founded at FUAS has a significant impact on the start-up community, particularly in our region.
FUAS also has an impact on the region in the fields of film and media design. One example is the organisation of the short film festival “Flensburger Kurzfilmtage”. FUAS is organising this festival together with the Europa-Universität Flensburg. In addition, students and lecturers of FUAS won awards and prizes at national and international level. This is truly remarkable and radiates far beyond our campus.
FUAS has created a diverse, lively lab landscape that is actively used in teaching, research and transfer. The labs were developed independently of each other, but offer great potential for teaching and the region, especially when they work together.
A number of transfer activities have already been realized in the area of studies and teaching, which created impact and benefits for businesses in our region as well as for other educational institutions and the cultural sector. These include the Digital Challenge, digital business models, apps for specific regional needs, the “Flensburger Kurzfilmtage”, light installations for the city of Flensburg, digital learning systems in medicine and the World Usability Day.
