We are contributing to the future viability of the creative industries in Schleswig-Holstein: by training the desperately needed young talents for the moving image-oriented creative industries and by actively shaping the digital transformation.
We work with and for the people in our region
With its film and art projects, the film and design programmes at Flensburg University of Applied Sciences facilitate an exchange with society and therefore have a an impact on our region.A number of transfer activities have already been realized in the area of studies and teaching, which created impact and benefits for businesses in our region as well as for other educational institutions and the cultural sector.
The research profile initiates and participates in projects in cooperation with public institutions (Kunst & Co. - Verein für Gegenwartskunst, Landesmuseen Schleswig- Holstein, 51Stufen-Kino and others). In recent years, for example, we organised film screenings and projections in the city of Flensburg and workshops with pupils from Flensburg schools. Our cooperation with the short film festival Flensburger Kurzfilmtage deserves particular notice, FUAS plays a significant role in the organisation of this festival and makes it part of our teaching.
The IMMZ was founded by the two Flensburg universities in 2020 and has since become a reliable structure for the film activities on campus. The centre aims to develop the film focus at FUAS, which positions itself at the interface between film aesthetics and practice or business, and has established itself as a fruitful field of development with its events and projects as well as the Film & Media Arts degree programme, which was set up in 2022.
Successful training of future specialists
In addition, students and lecturers of FUAS won awards and prizes at national and international level: In 2019, for example, the prestigious Next Generation SHORT TIGER award went to the film "Milchmänner” (Milkmen) created by students of Media Informatics at FUAS and thus also to the state of Schleswig-Holstein for the first time.
