As a university of applied sciences teaching is one of our daily tasks as, too, are applied research and technology transfer. We combine the two in numerous projects.

Our research institutes and centres are connecting links between our university and industry and business from our region and beyond. Between our students and their future employers. Between theory and practice Between Flensburg and the world.

The questions we deal with in the various institutes are as diverse as our university: Health in the digital age, renewable energy, maritime technologies and business in our region and in Africa. But research at FUAS does not stop at these institutes and centres. FUAS has been able to acquire several million euros of third party funding in recent years to fund research in biotechnology, health economics, maritime topics, communication engineering and many more.

Research institutes

How will we ensure energy supply in the future? How can we make sure that people in rural areas have access to the best possible medical care? What can we learn from economic development in Africa? And what makes a business idea become a successful business? How can we make seafaring even safer?

Research projects

Quality standards and the role logistics play for economic growth, tower concepts for wind turbines and optimizing and stabilising a power grid, projects on innovation and change management, virtual learning and data analysis – there is a lot of research going on at our university. Across geographical borders and those between disciplines.
