
The global challenges of our time, such as climate change, food supply around the world, questions related to pandemics and demographic change, demand urgent solutions in applied research. Flensburg University of Applied Sciences is tackling these challenges in its research profile Health care and life sciences and has established research and transfer structures.
The Institute for eHealth and Management in Healthcare (IEMG) has successfully carried out award-winning international and national transfer projects creating a high impact over many years, they include:
- the Deutsch-Dänische eHealth Innovation Center (German-Danish innovation award by the Chamber of Industry and Commerce),
- „Demantec- Demenz und innovative Technologien“ (Land of ideas-competition) and
- a project for digitally supported prostate cancer aftercare (Quality Assurance in Healthcare Award from the Schleswig-Holstein Medical Association).
The specialist focus in the area of “digitalisation in the healthcare sector" is crucial for the healthcare industry.
The Centre for analytics in the innovation and technology transfer for the bio and food technology (ZAiT) was established for questions on analysis. The ZAiT provides analytical support for innovations in the food, pharmaceutical and cosmetics sectors. The ZAiT team also works on research and transfer projects on topics with great relevance for our future, such as the sustainable use of the oceans and sustainable food production.
In order to address nutrition issues of the future, a lab for product technology is currently being built, for which renowned machine manufacturers will provide the systems.
