  • In school, you particularly liked maths and the technical and scientific subjects

  • You like tinkering with technical problems

  • Maybe you have completed vocational training in business or a technical field (not a must)

  • You want to get to know different specialist areas

What it’s about

Our society urgently needs ideas on how to combine the economy and technology with sustainability so that it’s a win-win situation. And this is where industrial engineers come into play: they work at the interface between business and technology. They work on making production processes more efficient and resource-saving as well as optimising the use of raw materials in the cycle: from extraction to use and recycling.

Course structure & majors

When you enrol as a student, you decide for one of two majors:

  • Circular economy
  • Production and manufacturing

(You can still change your major in the second semester if places are available.)

In the first semester, you will learn the fundamentals in engineering and business together with students from degree programmes such as Business Administration and Mechanical Engineering.

Depending on your major, you will take basic and specialised modules. In the fifth and sixth semester of this programme, you will work on interdisciplinary projects together with students from the other major. You will work together across subject area boundaries and you can apply the skills you have learned in the previous semesters.

In the seventh semester of the programme you complete an internship with a partner from industry and write your bachelor’s thesis.

Future prospects

You want to continue your studies?

Your degree offers you various options: If you want to gain more in-depth knowledge on technical matters, have a look at our Mechanical Engineering / Process Engineering master’s. If you want to go further down the business-path, the Business Management master’s could be the right choice for you.

You want to work?

As a graduate of this degree program, you can work in a variety of industries and sectors. With your degree in engineering, you have the prospect of an attractive starting salary (60,000-70,000 euros a year) and work in jobs like these for example:

  • project manager
  • sustainability advisor
  • technical controlling
  • technical purchasing/sales

You can work in a variety of industries, e.g.:

  • manufacturing
  • trade
  • system engineering
  • energy and water industry
