Senate is FUAS’ parliament: Elections are open to every university member and Senate is tasked with the academic self-administration of our university. As a political body, Senate advises the President's Office on matters related to research, teaching and studies that affect FUAS at its core and in our daily work.
All of the status groups that make up FUAS are represented in Senate – professors, research assistants and employees from administrative and technical support and students of course. So, Senate is a reflection of FUAS as a whole.
The tasks and responsibilities of Senate are defined in Schleswig-Holstein’s Higher Education Act (cf. §21 in particular). Senate elects the members of the President's Office and can remove them from office as well. The university’s constitution, statutes and regulations are voted on here as well as FUAS’ budget and our structural and development plan.
Senate meets for public sessions on the third Wednesday of every month, except in February and August.
