Project description
With the help of the T!Raum initiative “ Innovation lab: Storing and using renewable energy in the North of Germany” (Inno!Nord) we aim to develop an environment that allows for the right development decisions to create energy storage systems to be made. Various storage technologies suitable for the region will be developed and tested and ultimately transferred to practical application.
The portfolio of energy storage technologies which make up this project covers a wide range of the demand for energy storage solutions that have been identified region. By introducing these storage technologies we aim to promote a structural strengthening of our region. In a first step, four specific workshop projects are planned, dealing with ammonia and hydrogen storage, CO2 storage from exhaust gases for further use, open heat storage planning and kinetic energy storage using a flywheel storage system.
With Inno!Nord, Flensburg University of Applied Sciences, in collaboration with partners and stakeholders, aims to develop concrete solutions for the existing demand for energy storage technologies, which we aim to put into practice with the help of suitable transfer methods.
The project focus is to establish a unique innovation laboratory, which will include various transfer initiatives, some of which will be exclusive to and some of which will have an impact far beyond our region.
Inno!Nord’s (transfer) activities are to be brought together in an "Exchange Platform: Suitable Energy Storage Systems for Northern Germany" (AGE). Within AGE, various Inno!Nord projects will be coordinated, follow-up projects initiated and various innovative technology transfer formats developed in detail. The workshop projects will apply these transfer formats and their success will then be evaluated. The project is one of 12 project receiving funding in all of Germany. These 12 projects will exchange their findings as a community of experience.
