Project description
The Inno!Nord workshop project KOWA aims to investigate into the chemical CO2 storage from flue gases of a gas engine on a technical scale. Cooperation partners from industry will be involved in order to enable conclusions to be drawn for scaling up the technology. Furthermore, suitable transfer concepts (showrooms, visualisations, interactive experiments) are to be developed and implemented on the basis of the findings in order to make the technology accessible to various interested groups (industry, science and the public) according to their needs.
Another focus of the technology is the simultaneous hydrogen production using renewable energy sources, which will be the subject of in-depth research.
The overall objective of the project is to raise the technology of CO2 recovery from exhaust gases with simultaneous H2 production to a higher level of technological maturity. The focus is on technology transfer, so that the aim is also to make the technology known and possibly establish it as an alternative for reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
The Inno!Nord workshop project KOWA is part of Inno!Nord Innovation lab: Storing and using renewable energy in the North of Germany.
Objectives
- Investigations on an industrial plant for chemical CO2 capture from exhaust gases and the regenerability of the chemical storage with simultaneous H2 production
- Preparation of feasibility studies for the implementation of the technology with potential users
- Testing and optimising innovative transfer formats in order to achieve a large-scale dissemination of knowledge about the technology
