Project description
Global efforts to protect the climate force the maritime sector ("green shipping") to look for low-emission solutions. The sustainable and safe use of our oceans and the associated progress in maritime environmental protection can only be guaranteed through the use of cutting-edge technologies.
The aim of this project is to develop an innovative membrane system for cleaning wastewater from exhaust gas scrubbers (scrubbers), including higher-level control technology, until it is ready for the market.
As part of research into maritime environmental protection, a unique plant for flue gas treatment as it is typically used on ships is being built at FUAS’ Kielseng site (on-shore) in combination with existing equipment (large ship engine). The operation of the plant generates an authentic material system independent of ongoing ship operations and thus enables comprehensive basic research on emissions at the scrubber water treatment plant as well as the implementation of supplementary research focuses on exhaust gas aftertreatment.
