A hackathon is a collaborative workshop where new ideas are developed, problems are solved, or creative approaches are tried out. A Usability Hackathon concentrates on challenges where user understanding and research come first when developing new products and services.

Are you a future pioneer looking to design for a better world and leave a mark on your local community?

We have collected a range of usability challenges from local organisations and are looking to better our community by organising a hackathon on 8.-10.11.2024. Choose your preferred challenge and sign up for the hackathon weekend.

During the weekend there will be professional speakers on various topics and mentors that will be supporting you with checkpoints, so no specific background knowledge is required. On the contrary, multidisciplinary team structures are encouraged.

All participants will be provided with workshop materials, food and drinks during the weekend and there is a possibility to work around the clock if you wish.

On World Usability Day 14.11.2024, you will have the chance to present your solution ideas back to the organisations and push for better user experiences around us. Here, you will also be rewarded with a certificate of participation.

Challenges

Based on the information on the challenge page below, you should select your favourite challenges. In the application form you need to tell us your 3 most preferred challenge options. Depending on the order of application (first come first served) we will share you into teams and try and consider your preferred choices. At the kick-off of the hackathon you will be provided with more information directly from the companies. The places are limited, so apply fast!

For more information on the individual challenges, click on the company name:

Registration

We need a binding registration to this event, because the places are limited. When you register, you need to select you preferred challenge and you need to accept the code of conduct. Let us also know your dietary restriction, since the whole weekend will be catered and if there are specific people with who you would like to team up. If you have questions, please contact oona.colliander@hs-flensburg.de.
