About the project

As part of the IKF joint project, the Island Type Checker was developed as a digital tool to help people find the North Sea island that best matches their living and working preferences. Questions on aspects such as leisure opportunities, infrastructure, nature experience, and the social environment allow for a differentiated matching between users and islands.

The Island Type Checker is one of three components of a planned digital platform:

  • Island Type Checker: for initial orientation and analysis of suitability regarding island selection (also serving as a marketing tool)
  • Job platforms: to facilitate direct access to regional job opportunities
  • Digital relocation manager: to support the moving process

Challenge

The aim of this evaluation is to assess the usability and user experience of the Island Type Checker and to derive concrete recommendations for further development.

In particular, the following questions will be addressed:

  • How intuitive and engaging is the current user flow?
  • Where do weak points, misunderstandings or unnecessary hurdles occur during the user experience?
  • How can the overall experience and interface design be improved?

Background information

The evaluation is based on the existing prototype version of the Island Type Checker, which will be analysed with regard to its usability and user experience. The insights gained will be used to develop targeted suggestions for improving the design, structure, and user guidance.

The results will inform the ongoing development of the integrated digital platform, which aims to contribute to the retention of skilled labour and to enhancing the long-term attractiveness of the North Sea islands as places to live and work.
