Project description

The eGon research project is the follow-up project for the open_eGo project, in which a transparent, cross-grid planning tool for the electricity system was developed.
The eGon project will reach beyond the original project objectives in various aspects including the coupling of the existing electricity grid model with requirements and flexibilities from the gas, e-mobility and heating sectors as well as the integration of further electrical flexibilities (DSM, overhead line monitoring).
The creation and application of a planning tool that can map the advancing sector coupling enables the determination of an energy system optimised according to total costs and the identification of challenges and synergies with advancing sector coupling.

eGon also pursues an open source and open data strategy in order to provide data and methods under suitable open licenses.
