Project description
As part of the Grenzland INNOVATIV Schleswig-Holstein project, “Innovative contributions to a sustainable use of energy in Schleswig-Holstein” (GrinSH) project the project sponsor also approved and procured a high-precision particle measuring device in 2019. Its measuring range already ensures that it can be used for future exhaust gas standards for natural gas engine emissions. However, the measurement of particle concentration and size distribution in flue gases, particularly from other marine fuels and combustion processes, requires a significant expansion of sample preparation.
To ensure that the measurement results can be compared with results from other scientific sites, particular emphasis is placed on sample preparation in accordance with the Particle Measurement Program (PMP). For this purpose, the manufacturer of the particle measuring device offers a system solution into which the existing measuring device can be integrated. The solution includes heated measuring tubes, hot dilution, catalytic stripper, cold dilution and is specially designed for the device. A special feature is the direct communication between the measuring device and the conditioner, which also allows the dilution ratio to be adjusted, among other things, which makes it possible to successfully carry out measuring tasks at changing operating points. A variable dilution ratio is also extremely important for use on engines that are operated with different fuels.
By procuring the above-mentioned components, the existing measuring device is complete, mobile and very flexible to use.
