Project description

The AI Application Centre and the AI Transfer Hub Schleswig-Holstein, funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and the state of Schleswig-Holstein, together form the KI.SH network.
The AI Application Centre, as a driver of innovation and a platform for technological developments, provides particular support in transferring scientific AI research into practice. The state's universities contribute a variety of expertise to support the use of AI.
Interdisciplinary and cross-location teams analyse and optimise projects and project ideas and develop them further in a pre-competitive, cooperative and experimental manner.
Flensburg University of Applied Sciences is represented with a focus on NLP & text analytics, MLOps and AI management & trustworthy AI.

NLP & Text Analytics

Natural language processing has developed significantly in recent years. With the introduction of ChatGPT, this area has received a great deal of attention. However, its potential goes beyond this. Language processing can be used to (partially) automate knowledge-intensive processes and support routine tasks. Similarly, this field can provide support in dealing with the flood of information, and document landscapes can be explored using appropriate methods, for example to support decision-making processes. Flensburg University of Applied Sciences can provide support in various areas (e.g. information extraction, sentiment analysis, development of prototype applications with large language models).

AI infrastructure & MLOps

In addition to the actual training of models for a wide variety of tasks, considerable time and infrastructure are required to operate the models reliably, reproducibly and sustainably. We provide support in selecting methods and frameworks to ensure that requirements are met and processes are automated. In doing so, we also consider the resource-efficient use of infrastructure.

AI management / Trustworthy AI

AI management refers to the cycle of planning, implementing and monitoring AI technologies within an organisation. It encompasses a wide range of activities aimed at integrating AI systems efficiently and effectively into business processes. We place particular emphasis on transparent integration with people and their areas of responsibility within the company. Overall, AI management serves as a multidisciplinary approach to increasing the efficiency of AI systems, maintaining ethical standards and minimizing potential risks.
