The lecture
This lecture explores the emerging challenges of offshore wind farm decommissioning, at a time when the first generation of turbines reach the end of their operational life.
The session examines the different risks involved in removing these massive offshore structures, and focuses on recent quantitative frameworks designed to move beyond simple percent estimates for weather delays.
By analyzing the primary drivers of project overtime, including technical challenges and logistical bottlenecks, the discussion highlights how data-driven modeling can help de-risk the offshore wind sector.

The lecture series:
The Wind Energy Technology Institute (WETI) is organizing a series of lectures in the summer semester 2026. We welcome anyone interested in the wind industry to join us. We have invited lecturers from the various branches of the wind industry to speak about exciting topics. There will be the opportunity for a short discussion after each of the talks. It is also an opportunity to get to know employers and talk to them.
