What it’s about
What do the production of vaccines, yogurt cultures and wastewater treatment have in common? They probably wouldn’t exist without engineers from bio and food technology and process engineering! During your studies you will work on topics such as these in our labs: You’ll make beer from water from the Baltic Sea, produce healthy foods, produce energy from organic waste and count fluorescent algae under a microscope – in short: You’ll help to shape a sustainable future.
Course structure & majors
In the first two semesters of your studies, you will work on a solid basis:
- You’ll perform your first experiments in our labs
- you’ll get to know important industry sectors and
- you’ll acquire important knowledge in maths, engineering and natural sciences, which you will apply in the following semesters.
In the second semester of your studies you’ll decide for one of three majors which you will then pursue from your third semester onwards:
- Technology and Analytics
- Process Engineering or
- Business Administration
All three majors include technical modules as well as modules on legal basics, computer science and business administration. This way, you’ll be perfectly prepared for your future career.
In the seventh, and last, semester of your studies, you’ll complete an internship in industry and, finally, write your bachelor's thesis.
Future prospects
You want to continue your studies?
If you want to study further, FUAS has two master’s degree programmes that may interest you: our master’s in Applied Biotechnology and Food Science and our master’s in Mechanical Engineering / Process Engineering.
