The talk
More than 85% of all matter in Universe consists of mysterious dark matter, which reveals itself only through its gravitational interactions. It might consist of yet-undiscovered fundamental particles that could have very weak couplings to known particles, making them potentially detectable.
One class of such a particle is the axion, which could convert to ordinary light in the presence of magnetic fields. This process would enable shining light through walls and the opaque cosmos.
In my talk, I will provide an overview how we search for axions both in the laboratory and in astrophysical observations.
