The “Couch Projekt”
Way too much upholstery that is in perfectly good shape still is thrown away each month. Prof. Angela Clemens, professor for Intermedial Design, collected some of those couches and will turn them into an art project. They will make up an installation at the Flensburg AHØJ, a maritime culture festival, and serve as places to sit and rest all around Flensburg’s harbour.
The basic idea of this project – to give upholstery designed to be used indoors an outdoor live – comes from a practice Angela Clemens witnessed and documented during a stay in New Zealand. A selection of these photographs can now be seen in the Modul1 exhibition space in the Rote Straße – while the current Couch Projekt can be experienced around Flensburg’s harbour.
