Information, biotechnology, mechanical engineering, business, energy, maritime technologies – because our degree programmes cover such a wide range of disciplines, we have four faculties to give them a home. Our staff and students teach, study and research in their home faculty according to their field of expertise and interest. But of course, scientific curiosity and the thirst for knowledge don’t stop at the borders of a discipline. That is why there are degree programmes, research projects and institutes jointly run by different faculties.

Each faculty is headed by a dean. The Dean’s Offices are supported by the Faculty Boards. The members of these boards discuss and decide questions regarding all the aspects that make up a faculty. Degree programmes, new positions, organisational questions, international relations and many more.

Faculty 1: Mechanical Engineering, Process Engineering and Maritime Technologies

The degree programmes offered in Faculty 1 range from classics such as Mechanical Engineering to maritime degree programmes both on undergraduate and graduate level.

Faculty 2: Energy and Life Science

In Faculty 2 you can become an expert on topics such as energy, biotechnology and process engineering both on undergraduate and graduate level. You can study in German and in English.

Faculty 3: Information and Communication

There is a lot going on here – our students and staff code, design and make films, translate, write and proof-read. If you want to work in the media business and if you want your work to have an actual impact, Faculty 3 is the place to be. It is also the right faculty for all linguistic geniuses – whether your fluent in English, java or PHP.

Faculty 4: School of Business

All the things it takes to make a business a success, you can study them here: from finances to marketing, from human resource management to logistics. One of the focus topics in faculty 4 is health care management.
