The Studienkolleg is a set of preparatory courses aimed at students from all over the world who do not have university entrance qualifications valid in Germany. After completing two semesters of this programme, you can take the assessment test (FSP) and acquire the entrance qualification necessary to study at a university of applied sciences.
Courses / Content
There are four types of courses offered at the Studienkolleg:
- TI course: for technical and engineering degree programmes
- WW course: for degree programmes in business administration and economics
- GD course: for design and arts degree programmes
- SW course: for degree programmes in social sciences and the humanities
At FUAS, we currently offer the TI course only.
The TI course consists of the following subjects:
- German - 8-10 hours/week
- Maths - 6-8 hours/week
- Physics - 6-8 hours/week
- Computer Science - 2-4 hours/week
- Technical Communication/CAD - 2-4 hours/week
- Chemistry - 2 hours/week
The final exam subjects are German, maths and physics.
Application criteria
The application requirements are:
- School education that enables you to attend a university of applied sciences (or equivalent) in your home country. You can check the requirements on the information portal for foreign educational qualifications (anabin database).
- B1 certificate for German language skills
- successful completion of an entrance exam in German and mathematics

How to apply
For all Studienkolleg locations in Schleswig-Holstein, applications are processed via Kiel University of Applied Sciences: Click here to apply for the Studienkolleg
In order to apply for the Studienkolleg, you must first register. After successful registration you will receive a welcome e-mail. Please follow the instructions provided in this mail to activate your user account.
Documents
You can then apply for the "Feststellungsprüfung" in the subject "Studienkolleg." To apply you need the following documents:
- tabular CV in German
- passport photo
- school certificate with an overview of subjects and grades (if your certificate is not in English or French, a German translation must also be included!)
- if applicable, documents relating to studies started or completed in your home country or to your participation in a university entrance examination
- Certificates of successfully completed German courses (certificates of participation are not sufficient)
- Passport or identity card
- Visa or residence permit if you are already in Germany
All documents must be uploaded digitally. You do not have to send anything via post.
If the review of your documents determines that you fulfil the requirements for admission for the foundation courses (Studienkolleg), you will be invited to the entrance exam. Study places are awarded based on the results of the entrance exam.

Once you have completed and passed the entrance exam and have been allocated a place to study in Flensburg, follow the enrolment steps described on the website of Kiel University of Applied Sciences.
